“Tanya Jones worked for me a Location Sound Recorder for a documentary film, shot on 5 continents and in wildly different locations. I was lucky to have her on the team. Whether we were shooting an interview on a busy street in Vienna and needed the subject to be quickly miked up, or shooting a family celebration around a huge cooking pot in a remote village of Tajikistan, Tanya was always ready and thinking ahead to figure out the best way to capture the best sound. On one occasion, we were planning to shoot a choir in a field in Zambia and as I was trying to work out the details of how to shoot it and more importantly, how to mic it, I turned around to see Tanya up in a tree, already positioning mics in a very creative way so we could get the shot with no mics in view and still capture excellent sound. With over 100 days of shooting, we didn’t have a single audio problem. (And the choir sounded amazing!)”
